Hi.

I’m Victoria, and this site mostly has my sewing projects and science writing, with a sprinkling of older poetry & etc.

I’m a prairie kid, parent of two, celiac, and like lane swimming. I love to research. I did my undergrad in physics & English with a math minor. I’m now doing a Master’s in economics.

A note about the blog title: in math and physics, the prefix eigen means one's own. It comes from the german, but mostly I always liked thinking about a particle's eigenvalues, and thought I might apply the same thought to my excursions.

Making fun of the USSU candidates while we still can

Voting is almost done for next year’s USSU executive and, while we still have three candidates for VP student affairs, why not poke some fun at them? The comics below are by Barry Tran and Victoria Martinez.

Alex Ferwerda

Alex Ferwerda campaigned heavily on the idea of a “comment couch” where students could bring their concerns to the USSU. Did he have any other motives for pushing this couch idead?

Justin Lasnier

The fountain of Justin Lasnier

Justin Lasnier is running for this position for the second year in a row. Both times, he has emphasized the need for more water fountains on campus. Is this a winning campaign issue? Only time will tell.

Leejay Schmidt

The boy can TALK.

In addition to being a candidate, Leejay Schmidt is also a member of University Students’ Council as a representative of the engineering college. He often speaks up during council meetings. And he sometimes doesn’t stop speaking.
